Project-Related Researcher Exchange

The program supports the exchange between lecturers from Bavaria and China as well as cooperation in research and teaching.

Funding is available for scientific projects that are planned and carried out jointly and in close coordination between the two partners. Funding is provided for activities aimed at establishing or deepening a sustainable and lasting cooperation or research collaboration between Bavarian and Chinese institutions. Associated stays of several weeks for the purpose of carrying out a research project such as data collection, field studies etc. are generally not funded.

The funding program is aimed at all disciplines and is generally open to all topics. Young scientists should be involved in the projects.

Type and scope of funding:

The funding covers travel and subsistence allowances. Personnel and material expenses are not funded. The maximum funding amount for a project is limited to € 5,500. Funding in excess of this amount will only be approved in duly justified exceptional cases.

The amount of funding is based on the respective applications. As a rule:

  • Flight costs of a maximum of € 1,000/person
  • Accommodation max. € 80 in Bavaria / CNY 450 in China
  • For stays of more than 10 days, an appropriate reduction of the accommodation allowance - with regard to the total costs of the stay - must be expected.

Who can submit an application?

University teachers and scientists (from post-doc level) from Bavarian and Chinese public universities and universities of applied sciences as well as university-related research institutions are eligible to apply. The application must be submitted by the Bavarian side.

What needs to be done after the project is completed?

For the accountment of the funding, a project report must be submitted to BayCHINA together with the numerical proof of use and all original receipts.
