Students at Bavarian universities have the opportunity to apply for support in the form of mobility grants and scholarships for subject-related study visits to China.

The Bavarian University Center for China (BayCHINA) is a service institution for all public universities and universities of applied sciences in Bavaria with regard to academic relations with China...

...which was established in 2007 by agreement between the Bavarian Rectors' Conferences (Universität Bayern e.V. and Hochschule Bayern e.V.) and the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts with the aim of strengthening academic relations between China and Bavaria.

In accordance with the rules of procedure, BayCHINA operates as an institution of the University of Bayreuth with a service character for all Bavarian public universities and universities of applied sciences.

BayCHINA supports students and researchers from Bavarian public universities and universities of applied sciences with the aim of expanding academic collaboration between Bavaria and China.

Expertise, Information, and Networking

BayCHINA accompanies and advises Bavarian-Chinese collaborations in research and education upon request, maintains contacts with Chinese academic institutions, and serves as an information, networking, and contact point.

Project-based exchange programme for rearchers

BayCHINA promotes a project-based exchange of researchers aimed at initiating, developing, and expanding sustainable and enduring research collaboration between Bavarian and Chinese academic institutions.

Bavarian Summer University in China

The Summer University in the port city of Qingdao (partner province Shandong) provides students with a comprehensive linguistic, cultural, and regional insight into contemporary China over the course of four weeks.

Study excursions

Using funds from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts and the Bavarian State Chancellery, BayCHINA annually sponsors three study excursions for Bavarian public universities and universities of applied sciences to China, providing up to € 7,500 each.

Supplementary Programme China-Competence (SinoZert)

With the SinoZert, students from all public universities and universites of applied sciences in Bavaria have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with China in parallel to their main academic studies, regardless of their main study location.
