Dialogue Trip to China

The dialogue trip is aimed at early-career researchers from all academic disciplines who, at the time of departure, have successfully completed a master's degree and are actively affiliated with a Bavarian university or higher education institution. The idea for the trip emerged from a previous networking event with early-career researchers. This event highlighted that significant challenges exist, particularly when it comes to establishing contacts and collaborations in China. Against this backdrop, a Dialogue Trip to China for early-career researchers was successfully organized for the first time in 2026.

► Here you can find a review of the BayCHINA Dialogue Trip 2026.

What is the aim of the Dialogue Trip?

The Dialogue Trip offers participants the opportunity to gain in-depth insights into China’s research landscape as well as the country’s academic, political and societal framework conditions. At its core is the direct exchange with representatives of leading universities, research institutions, German organisations and political foundations in China.

In addition, the trip provides a platform for discussing current and practice-oriented issues. These include, among others, the identification of new cooperation partners in China, approaches to data governance and research security, and the impact of political framework conditions on research and scientific collaboration.

The academic programme is complemented by a cultural programme, enabling participants to develop a broader understanding of China’s social environment and cultural characteristics.
