Study excursions to China

The Bavarian University Center for China (BayCHINA) is funding three study excursions to China by Bavarian public universities and universities of applied sciences with funds from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts. Travel funding for one excursion is explicitly provided for the destination Guangzhou.

Type and scope of funding:

• Students enrolled at Bavarian state colleges and universities participating in the excursion are eligible for funding. Funding for non-student participants (lecturers) requires a separate justification.
• Funding is provided in the form of a mobility grant of € 500/participant, up to a maximum of € 7,500 per study excursion.
• Study excursions should not last less than 7 full days in China.

Who can submit an application?

University lecturers, scientists and academic staff at Bavarian public universities and universities of applied sciences are eligible to apply.

Application procedure & application documents:

• Project description, which should not exceed 5 pages. The description should include the following points:
  • Presentation of the topic and the research context
  • Planned excursion format
  • Objective of the excursion and planned measures to ensure sustainability
  • Information on the project partner in China
  • Time and cost plan
• Declaration of cooperation agreement of the Chinese partner
• Letter of support from the dean of the faculty
• Sufficient justification if funding is requested for non-student travel participants

All eligible projects are evaluated by the BayCHINA Board of Directors and, if necessary, externally by appointed experts.

Application deadlines:

15th November for the following year

• Annual recurring funding per applicant, department or institute is not possible
• A maximum of one application per applicant, department or institute can be considered per year

What to do after the study excursion?

Following the study excursion, a results report including a project statement and a list of participants signed by all participants must be submitted.

• List of participants with signatures of all sponsored participants
