The China Hub's first Open Space event on the 16th of November 2023 in Munich (Kardinal Wendel Haus der Katholischen Akademie Bayern) was primarily aimed at researchers and the administrative offices at Bavarian universities, universities of applied sciences and research institutions that work with them (e.g. science managers and administrative staff in graduate schools, research departments and legal departments).

The one-day pilot event focussed on the key question ‘What does it take for successful scientific cooperation with China?’. The deliberately broad question harmonised with the chosen methodology (Open Space), had the potential to address a broad range of participants and served as a leitmotif for follow-up workshops and training courses of the China Hub, which are designed on the basis of the needs developed and articulated by the participants in the Open Space.
