On 17 June 2026, the China Hub hosted a joint webinar with EURAXESS China on the topic of research collaborations with China within the framework of Horizon Europe. The online event brought together representatives from European research institutions interested in expanding their cooperation with Chinese partners through European funding programmes.

The webinar was led by Karlis Rokpelnis from EURAXESS China, who provided participants with a comprehensive overview of collaboration opportunities under Horizon Europe, with a particular focus on funding schemes available through Pillar I and Pillar II. The presentation also addressed the eligibility of Chinese partners in Horizon Europe projects and highlighted important aspects to consider when establishing international research partnerships.

In addition to the funding landscape, participants received valuable guidance on identifying suitable funding opportunities. Special attention was given to the Horizon Europe Work Programmes, which provide detailed information on upcoming calls and priorities. Furthermore, attendees were introduced to the official co-funding lists published by the Chinese government, which can serve as an important resource when planning joint projects and identifying areas of mutual interest.

The webinar provided valuable insights into the current framework for EU–China research cooperation and offered practical guidance for institutions seeking to develop successful collaborations.
